Welcome to bigredpencil.co.uk, a website for artists by artists. We have set up this website to provide an inexpensive route for artists to acquire a website. So if you are an artist looking for an affordable way to develop a web presence to promote your artwork, or if you already have a website and you want an inexpensive way to increase your website traffic, look no further. |

Our philosophy is to provide artists with an affordable way to procure a fully working website. We do this through a process of sharing, bartering and using the best of the free and inexpensive tools the World Wide Web has to offer. In this way we can create the best possible website for artists, at the lowest possible price. |

We understand that as an artist, large amounts of money can be very difficult to come by, which is why we don't ask for thousands of pounds to set up your website. For an inexpensive administration fee of £75 we will construct you a basic website consisting of your homepage with your biography and a description of your work etc, up to three interactive gallery pages of your past and present work, a contact and links pages. Any additional pages that you require we will charge on a page-by-page basis starting from very affordable £10 per page. On all these pages we will use our search engine optimization skills and tools to ensure that your website enjoys the highest possible and relevant ranking within all the major search engines and directories, which may possibly be the way that you found us.
Included in the price you will also get a .co.uk domain name of your choice which will also include the associated e-mail account, so you can have you@yourdomain.co.uk (subject to availability). Will we also include a pack of business cards to promote your new website. In addition to the basic fee there will then be an inexpensive annual upkeep fee of £50, payable after a year, to cover the cost of having advertisement free web space and domain renewal. We would also ask that you contribute a piece of your own artwork towards the bigredpencil collection, so that we will be able to create an exhibition of the best early 21st century art to help promote the website further.
In addition to these services, we will be providing an inexpensive but secure trading area. Working like a virtual art gallery, this will give you a place to display and sell your latest artwork with the ability to accept secure credit or debit card payments. Like real art galleries this service will work on a commission basis, but don't worry, we will not be charging 15%. Working like other trading websites, it will be a self-submission service with the ability to create a detailed description and upload photographs of your artwork. The charge for this service will be an affordable £1.50 per submission. In addition there is the percentage cost or fixed rate (to be confirmed), of the secure credit or debit card transaction, if the option is used.
To help publicise you and your artwork further we will be creating a database of UK based art events, such as art and crafts fairs, displays and exhibitions. This will be fully searchable by date, region, etc. We will also be creating an art based web directory, full of useful links like, affordable artist's supplies, inexpensive digital printers and economical galleries. We understand that the Internet is an excellent place for purchasing affordable supplies and acquiring inexpensive services. We also appreciate that the World Wide Web is a very useful tool for promoting your artwork, but it is no substitute for the actual physical world, so we provide these additional services gratis.
